Myrtle Beach area golf instructor Mel Sole has been awarded “Master Professional” status by the PGA of South Africa, a designation reserved only for the “legends” of the game at the top of the PGA pyramid.
Sole, named a “top teacher” by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest, operates several golf schools in the Carolinas – in Greenville, Sunset Beach and at Pawleys Plantation in Pawleys Island, near Myrtle Beach.
A native of South Africa, Sole has been named a “top teacher” by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. The Mel Sole Golf School has been on Golf Magazine’s list of “Top USA Golf Schools” since the list’s debut in 1999. The school received TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence for 2012 and 2013.
Sole is one of only 18 master professionals in the South African PGA, of which he’s been a member since 1966, and one of only two living outside South Africa.
These individuals have made significant contributions to the PGA and to the game of golf during their career. A master professional has achieved great accomplishments in various aspects of their profession, including player, club pro, teacher, and mentor.
“It’s been my life’s ambition to attain the status of master professional,” said Sole. “I have people to thank, such as my mentor, Phil Ritson, for their many contributions to my career over the years.”
The Mel Sole Golf School’s mission is to be the leader in golf academies, offering top-quality golf instruction at an affordable price. The school is committed to providing a learning experience for the individual golfer that results in real and lasting golf improvement. Mel Sole Golf School ensures increased enjoyment of the game for each of its students.
