Our Story

At Pawleys Plantation

Pawleys Plantation has set the standard for lowcountry living in Pawleys Island since its opening in 1989. At the heart of Pawleys’ appeal is a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course that is widely regarded as one of the Golden Bear’s best. The front nine plays through 200-year-old, moss-draped oak trees, showcasing the beauty of the South Carolina lowcountry, and the closing nine is as memorable as any in the Palmetto State. Six of the final nine holes play along a tidal marsh, challenging players to summon their best golf in a setting that is visually stunning. It’s an unforgettable experience.

The excellence of Pawleys Plantation extends beyond the golf course. The onsite meeting facilities attract gatherings both large and small, earning universal praise from planners and attendees. Executive chef Michael Coberly and his team have made Pawleys a restaurant of choice for diners in search of a memorable meal and a relaxed setting. The combination of the property’s beauty, facilities and culinary team have made Pawleys Plantation the area’s most popular wedding venue.

Golf. Meetings. Meals. Weddings. No matter what brings you to Pawleys Plantation, the expectation is excellence.

A Jack Nicklaus Signature Course

Course History

With architect Jack Nicklaus onsite, Pawleys Plantation opened to great acclaim in 1989, immediately taking its place among the Myrtle Beach area’s best and most popular courses.

Over the last three decades, the layout has consistently been ranked among South Carolina’s best public courses and has been a destination of choice for high profile events and golf media. The hit Golf Channel show “Big Break: Myrtle Beach” filmed at Pawleys, as did “Road Trip Myrtle Beach,” and Hootie & the Blowfish chose to film a commercial here.

The Golden Bear also returned to celebrate the course’s 30th birthday, highlighting his affinity for the layout and reaffirming the significance of Pawleys Plantation.
